A year-long challenge

I’ve discussed on here this blog before how I’ve never been able to stick to a year-long challenge of any kind before — or really any kind of long-running structure like that. I made it about 3 months into #Dungeon23 before falling off the wagon. That being said, I’ve got an idea.

I’ve been far more interested in scratch building and crafting and painting miniatures than writing recently, probably because I write all day for work. I don’t currently have a Warhammer or Mordheim or mini group of any kind, and I don’t have an in-person game that needs miniatures, so I’ve been looking for some framework to guide my crafting. Here’s my idea for a 2025 challenge:

52 weeks, 26 letters.

Every two weeks, pick a creature from a monster manual/bestiary of your choice starting with a new letter of the alphabet and build a mini for it. It can be an exact recreation of the illustration, a crazy proxy or “counts as” model, whatever. Do the letters in order or jump around, I’m not your boss.

I feel like two weeks per model is enough wiggle room to not get burnt out, but also enough to keep my feet to the fire. Who knows, I think I might try to do it and see if this gets me to commit to doing something for a full year.

Maybe share your stuff with the #scratchabet?
